The “marasca” is a variety of cherry whose plants were once quite commonly found in the middle of a vineyard. The Cru Rocca delle Marasche is found in a magnificent position in the borough of Castellinaldo where the Barbera vine has found its real place to be. A really intense and elegant wine is obtained by reducing the production through a thinning out process thus allowing the remaining grapes to over-mature in the vineyard. This only happens with the best of vintages and after a long refining period.
